Vedi Napoli... - See Naples...and die, as the saying goes. A magnificent view of the 'New City' from the southwest, the mighty snow-capped Mount Vesuvius looming in the distance. Feels like I can almost touch the coloured rooftops on this winter afternoon.

I remember standing near Castel Sant'Elmo [far right] on the hilltop years ago, in a previous life, overlooking the old city center and the blue waters of the Bay of Naples. From there I could also see the airplanes arriving at Capodichino, seemingly skimming the houses on the ridge nearby, as they swooped down on final to land. I tried to imagine what the view would be like from the flightdeck, thinking: one day.

Now, over a decade later, after a long road I'm here. I've flown past Castel Sant'Elmo on several ocasiones now but the view never ceases to amaze me. Seeing Naples and fly.
